Initial Appointment: Telehealth

The place to start. In order to freely discuss and gain a full history of your childs strengths and challenges around feeding and mealtimes, our initial contact is always a caregiver only telehealth session. From this session, we can determine the best therapy program to suit you, your family and especially your child.

There is no obligation to continue with a therapy program following initial contact and we encourage you to wait until we meet and assess your child prior to committing to a program.

Our Initial Feeding Assessment Telehealth appointment will explore the following areas:

1.Medical & Feeding History

We will discuss your child’s medical & feeding history. Please forward any relevant reports or specialist letters detailing your childs diagnosis, development or skills. To get the most out of this session, you may also like to send a video of a typical mealtime with your child.

2.Usual Routine

We will talk about what your child is doing now and what they are doing well with regard to feeding and mealtimes because this is always the place to start. We are passionate about starting at their happy place and, as research suggests, this is where we can best capture and grow that curiousity and intrinsic motivation toward a positive relationship with food. We will talk about your and your childs challenges and what their usual routine and food intake is so that we can determine the best therapy approach for you, your family and our soon to be curious learner (your child).

3.Plan

You will leave this session (and each one of our sessions together) with a plan and strategies to work toward the individual goals that we set for your child and their mealtimes.

4.Goals

We will develop some goals around feeding and mealtimes. We will discuss what an ideal relaxed mealtime would look like to your family and consider the next steps to work toward this.
